Uncle of Orlando massacre victim calls for peace at Luis Ocasio-Capo's funeral

Family said Capo, 20, wanted to be a professional dancer

ORLANDO, Fla. – Funerals are beginning to be held for the victims of the Orlando nightclub massacre.

Family and friends of one of the victims said their final goodbyes Thursday.

"Not even a semi-truck can run over your body a million and one times and it still won't cover the pain that I'm feeling right now over somebody's ignorance, somebody's stupidity," said Alberto Capo, the uncle of Luis Omar Ocasio-Capo.

Wearing his photo over their hearts on their shirts, Ocasio-Capo's family and friends arrived at his funeral.

"These guys don't deserve none of it," Capo said. "And he was a baby. He didn't even have a chance to experiment nothing of life because of some ignorant, stupid dude."

Ocasio-Capo was just 20 years old when he was shot early Sunday. His family said he wanted to be a professional dancer and dancing the night away was just what he was doing with friends when he was killed.

"It's stupid, this right here. This is very stupid," Capo said. "To all the people in the world, start learning about that word 'peace,' because it ain't worth killing somebody that's innocent like him over nothing."

Disney dropped off flower arrangements for Ocasio-Capo and other local groups lined up in support of Ocasio-Capo, while the man's family endures the day they've prayed wouldn’t come.

"I don't want to remember him in a box," Capo said. "I don't want to remember having to bury him. I don't want to remember any of that."

Ocasio-Capo's grandmother flew in from Cleveland Tuesday to attend the funeral. JetBlue confirmed that flight attendants and passengers wrote notes to the woman in hopes of comforting her throughout this difficult time.

Passengers said flight attendants Kelly Davis Kara and Melinda Winstead passed around a piece of paper asking them for signatures on a note they would give to the victim's grandmother. Instead, passengers wrote paragraphs on numerous sheets of papers, expressing their condolences.
