Man arrested in armed robbery, shooting of international student in Wynwood

Devin Lewis in custody on attempted murder, armed robbery charges

MIAMI – Miami police have arrested a 25-year-old man in connection with a June 7 armed robbery of an international student.

Devin Lewis was arrested Thursday on charges of attempted murder and armed robbery with a firearm.

Frank Hammar, a recent graduate of Miami Ad School, was walking in Miami’s Wynwood neighborhood after finishing dinner with his parents when he was approached by two men who robbed him near Northwest Second Avenue and Northwest 26th Street.

Hammar was shot twice during the incident and was treated at an area hospital.

Police said Hammar was shown six photos in a lineup earlier in the day and was able to identify Lewis as one of his attackers.
