Body found burning outside Michaels craft store in Pembroke Pines

911 caller believed body was mannequin

PEMBROKE PINES, Fla. – A body was found burning outside a Michaels arts and crafts supplies store early Monday morning, Pembroke Pines police said.

A witness called 911 to report that a mannequin was on fire behind the store at 11300 Pines Boulevard just before 7 a.m.

"When the fire department arrived, they realized it wasn't a mannequin, that it was actually a human being who was deceased," Pembroke Pines police spokesman Al Xiques said.

Pembroke Pines police said the incident is being investigated as an undetermined death investigation.

"We don't know exactly what may have caused the victim to catch fire," Xiques said. "That's part of what we're trying to investigate."

The identity of the victim has not been released.
