Owner says she saw lightning strike boat

MIAMI – A 39-foot boat caught fire Thursday morning behind a waterfront home in Miami.

The boat caught fire behind a home in the Bay Point community near Biscayne Boulevard and Northeast 42nd Street.

According to the owner, she saw lightning strike her boat, Miami Department of Fire-Rescue spokesman Ignatius Carroll said.

Firefighters were able to extinguish the flames in less than 30 minutes.

The fire did not spread to the home.
