'Mr. Lebowski' David Huddleston dies

Huddleston died Aug. 2 in New Mexico

Actor David Huddleston, known for playing Jeffrey Lebowski in the Cohen brothers' film "The Big Lebowski" died August 2. He was 85, according to an Associated Press report.

Huddleston's wife, Sarah C. Koeppe, said he died of advanced heart and kidney disease in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

In addition to "The Big Lebowski," Huddleston appeared in "Santa Claus: The Movie," "Blazing Saddles," "The West Wing," "Gilmore Girls" and "The Wonder Years" during his 55-year career in movies and television.

Huddleston was born in Vinton, Virginia, in 1930, the AP reports.  He served as an aircraft engine mechanic in the U.S. Air Force before becoming an actor in New York.
