Pedestrian struck, killed on I-95 in north Broward County

Pedestrian who entered HOV lane struck by vehicle, FHP says

BROWARD COUNTY, Fla. ā€“ A pedestrian was killed when struck by a vehicle Saturday in north Broward County, troopers said.

The incident happened just before 5 p.m. on I-95 south of State Road 810, or Hillsboro Boulevard.

Troopers said the pedestrian walked across the northbound lanes from east to west.

The pedestrian entered a HOV lane, directly into the path of a Mazda vehicle. Troopers said the pedestrian was struck by the left-front of the Mazda, which came to a stop on the inside paved shoulder.

The driver suffered minor injuries. Troopers said the driver was unable to avoid the collision.

The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene, troopers said.

The incident remains under investigation.
