2 children hit by car at intersection in Key Biscayne

KEY BISCAYNE, Fla. – Two children were injured Tuesday when they were struck by a car in Key Biscayne, authorities said.

Key Biscayne Fire Rescue officials said the children were struck in the intersection of Crandon Boulevard and Grand Bay Drive.

Authorities said a 12-year-old boy was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital's Ryder Trauma Center with multiple injuries. They said he was conscious and alert while being transported.

His friend, who also appeared to be about 12 years old, suffered minor injuries.

Authorities said the driver stayed at the scene.

It's unclear whether the driver will face charges.
