Cuba travel: Departure tax

Cuban goverment requires travelers to pay 25 Cuban Convertible Pesos

MIAMI – The Cuban government requires travelers leaving the island to pay a tax.

The $25 tax is often included in the price of the airline ticket.

Travelers can also pay the tax at windows near the check-in counters at Cuban airports. Government employees require travelers to pay in cash and only accept Cuban Convertible Pesos.

Cuban customs will check the boarding pass for the departure hologram sticker stamp to verify that the tax has been paid.
