Rap star Kodak Black to remain in jail

South Florida rapper was scheduled to be released Tuesday

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – A South Florida rap star won't be getting out of jail as early as previously planned.

Rapper Kodak Black, 19, whose real name is Dieuson Octave, had spent three months in jail on charges of possession of cannabis and fleeing police before agreeing to a plea deal Tuesday.

But after Octave's appearance in court, it was discovered that he had two arrest warrants against him.

Although details of the warrants are not yet available, one was from St. Lucie County in Florida and the other from Florence, South Carolina.

Because of the warrants, Octave will remain in custody of the Broward Sheriff's Office until those court proceedings are resolved.

Octave was initially arrested after police said they witnessed him in what they believed was a drug deal with two other men.

Octave and another man allegedly sped away from the scene.

Terms of Tuesday's plea deal sentenced Octave to one year of house probation and five years of probation.

Record executives representing Octave asked Judge Lisa Porter to withhold adjudication on the rapper being labeled a felon so that he could tour abroad.
