Man falls from scaffolding after cement truck hits cabling, police say

MIAMI BEACH, Fla. ā€“ A man was killed Wednesday in a construction accident in Miami Beach.

Miami Beach police spokesman Ernesto Rodriguez said the victim, also named Ernesto Rodriguez, 47, fell three to four stories while working at a building.

"Just after 3 p.m. we were called out to the scene," Rodriguez said. "A gentleman who was about three to four stories up in the air fell after a cement truck that was also at the scene hit some cabling that was attached to that scaffolding."

The worker was pronounced dead at the scene.

Harding Avenue was closed from 80thĀ to 83rdĀ streets during the investigation.

Spokesman Rodriguez said the Occupational Safety and Health Administration was called to the scene, as well as traffic accident investigators because a vehicle was involved in the death.

The driver of the cement truck will not receive a citations or charges, police said, as the incident appears to be an accident.Ā
