Officer shot at after pulling over vehicle stolen in armed carjacking

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – Police are searching for two people who opened fire at a Miami-Dade police officer Friday night.

Miami-Dade police Detective Daniel Ferrin said the incident occurred about 11 p.m. after an officer spotted a 2014 Dodge Charger that had been stolen in an armed carjacking the day before.

As the officer pulled up to the vehicle, two people inside opened fire, striking the officer's car multiple times, Ferrin said.

The officer returned fire, but the gunmen ran away, Ferrin said.

Police established a perimeter in search of the gunmen, but they were not found.

The officer wasn't injured, and police don't know if any of the shooters were hurt.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
