1 fatally shot inside car in northwest Miami-Dade, authorities say

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. ā€“ One man was fatally shot and another injured Thursday in northwest Miami-Dade County, Miami-Dade Fire Rescue officials said.

Police said the shooting happened during an altercation outside a home at 12530 NW 18th Court and discovered a man who was grazed by a bullet. The man was treated for his injury by firefighters and released on scene.Ā 

Police then got information about a yellow Chevrolet Camaro that was spotted fleeing the area, according to a media release.Ā 

That vehicle was later located in a shopping plaza on Northwest 127th Street and 17th Avenue at 12:45 p.m., where police said the victim drove himself to.Ā

A tarp was covering his body next to a yellow Chevrolet Camaro convertible that had its passenger door open. The 20-year-old man inside the vehicle was pronounced dead on scene by firefighters, a media release said.Ā 

Westview Middle School was temporarily placed on lockdown after the shooting as a precaution.Ā 

No arrests have been made, and it's unclear whether more than one person was involved in the shooting.

Miami-Dade police said another victim, who was not involved in the altercation, was grazed by a bullet and is speaking with detectives.
