1 million bees swarm Lake County highway after truck crash

Volunteer bee keeprtd aid relief effort

LAKE COUNTY, Fla. – More than one million honey bees became aggressive Thursday after the truck driver taking them to a South Florida farm crashed in Lake County, WFTV reports.

Half of the 100 beehive boxes the driver had in the truck, each carrying 20,000 bees, spilled over on the roadway.

Some of the bees were rallied up by a team of volunteer beekeepers.

Beekeepers also set up a series of  hives about two miles from the crash site, giving the bees that flew away a place to return to.
