Armed carjacking, crash results in I-95 closure, police say

1 arrest, 1 person at-large after carjacking

MIAMI – A portion of Interstate 95 was shut down Wednesday night after a driver crashed a stolen Nissan Murano in the northbound express lanes near Northwest 62nd Avenue, Miami police said.

Three vehicles were involved in the crash in Miami's Little Haiti neighborhood.

The two men inside the stolen vehicle then fled, police said. One of the men was caught and arrested, and police were searching the area for a second man Wednesday night.

Police said the black Murano was taken in an armed carjacking that took place at about 7:40 p.m. near Northwest 11th Avenue and Northwest 28th Street.

The crash took place shortly after and the men were spotted about a half-hour later near Northwest Seventh Avenue and Northwest 72nd Street.
