POMPANO BEACH, Fla. – A family visiting South Florida this week left what was supposed to be a relaxing vacation feeling upset and unsafe.
A man, who did not want to be identified, said he parked their rental SUV about 12:30 p.m. Monday in a parking lot on A1A and Atlantic Boulevard.

He said he believed the parking lot was safe since he had to pay for parking and there were plenty of people working and walking in the area.
But instead, he said someone broke into their rental SUV, and stole his wife's purse, which contained their cellphones and wallets.
"They must have used some kind of tool, as they pried the trim up on the window they smashed when they took my wife's purse out of the way back storage section, which was covered up, making me suspect they had a spotter watching for folks leaving their cars," the man said.
Photos taken by the tourists show the right passenger side door window smashed out, and it appears that the thieves used some kind of tool on the bottom left corner of the window.
Anyone with information is asked to call Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS.
