FHP identifies motorcyclist killed in I-95 crash

32-year-old man dies after crashing into Tesla

BROWARD COUNTY, Fla. – The Florida Highway Patrol identified the victim of a crash involving a motorcycle and a car traveling southbound on Interstate 95 in Broward County, according to a report released Friday evening.

Michael Savino was in the 2009 Suzuki motorcycle when he struck the back of a 2015 Tesla about 11 p.m., Thursday, according to FHP.

Robert Imel, the FHP homicide investigator in the case, reported Savino, 32, got "ejected from the motorcycle into the roadway" near the Atlantic Boulevard exit.

He was wearing a helmet. Doctors pronounced him dead at Broward Health North.

The driver of the Tesla, Jesse Best, 27, of Clearwater, and the passenger with him, Mark D. Best III, 73, of Spring Hill, were not injured.

The FHP determined they were both wearing their seatbelts and had not been drinking alcohol. The results of Savino's toxicology test remain pending. And the cause of the crash remains under investigation.
