GAINESVILLE, Fla. – A University of Florida student was the victim of a sexual battery early Saturday morning, according to police.
The Gainesville Police Department was investigating.

The student told police she was walking home from the Mid-town bar area when a man offered her a ride in a black car. She accepted the ride.
"The UFPD firmly believes that crime is never the fault of the victim," the alert posted on the UF website said.
The woman was reportedly sexually attacked at the 300th block of Northwest 22nd Street.
Detectives were asking anyone with information to call police at 352-955-1818.
