Missing man's body surfaces in Biscayne Bay off Miami Beach

Family identify body found as 22-year-old missing man

MIAMI BEACH, Fla. – The body of a 22-year-old who went missing on Friday turned up near the Julia Tuttle Causeway off Miami Beach on Sunday.

Miami Beach Police and Miami Fire Rescue worked together after the body of Tryon Robertson turned up in Biscayne Bay behind the Mount Sinai Medical Center.

"At first I thought it was a sea turtle," Tito Omaghomi said after finding his body while water skiing.

There was an intense air and marine search for Robertson near Belle Isle in Biscayne Bay on Friday and a less active search continued on Saturday.

Robertson was in a 17-foot rental boat and jumped into the water before he vanished, a woman told police.

Robertson's  friends returned the rental boat at the Sunset Harbour Yacht Club.

His family returned to the area on Sunday to identify his body.
