Firefighters battle fire at Florida Power & Light plant in Dania Beach

Transformer source of fire, BSO official says

DANIA BEACH, Fla. – Firefighters battled a two-alarm fire at a Florida Power & Light plant at 4300 Southwest 42nd Ave. Sunday night.

Mike Jachles said firefighters arrived to the plant around 8 p.m. to find a transformer had caught fire. He said an industrial chemical pumper was used with foam and purple K to fight the fire, which took about an hour to get under control.

No injuries were reported.

The extent of the damage is unknown at this point.
