Armed man ambushes clerk at Miami Gardens beauty supply store

Thief takes off with money from cash register

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – A serial robber was captured on surveillance video this week ambushing a clerk at a beauty supply shop in Miami Gardens, police said.

Cameras in an alley on the side of the shop first captured the thief.

He's then seen scoping out the front door of the business and waiting for a UPS  driver to leave.

As soon as the driver walks out, the crook pulls down a face mask and darts inside Diamond Girl Beauty Supply.

"He asked for all the cash in the register," Moe Abdallah said.

Abdallah, who runs the store, said the heist was carried out mid-afternoon Tuesday during peak business hours.

"The customers and employees ran to the back because they feared for their lives," he said.

The gun-toting robber stuffed all he could into his cargo shorts and took off.

"The way the guy did it was real sloppy. His pants were sagging (and) he almost fell running out of the store," Abdallah said. "Some people don't care. They don't have a lot to lose that they risk their life for a couple hundred dollars, but it's not worth it sometimes."

A gunman appearing to have striking similarities pulled off another robbery in July at a different hair supply store in North Miami Beach.

Detectives are looking into a possible connection, but so far the thief is still on the run.

"Thank God he didn't take nobody's life and thank God nobody got hurt, because money can be replaced but life can't be replaced," Abdallah said.

Anyone with information is asked to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
