Doctors release North Miami officer injured during arrest

Suspect shot by police remains at Aventura hospital

NORTH MIAMI, Fla. – A North Miami police officer was recovering from injuries he suffered while trying to make an arrest on Friday.

Officer Brigette Pace said a driver ran him over with a stolen car near the intersection of Northeast 143rd Street and Second Avenue.

The officer "has been released from the hospital," Pace said Saturday afternoon.

After the officer was injured, police officers shot at the suspect in the stolen car.

A group of teens said they witnessed the crime and heard the shooting.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue took the officer and the suspect to Aventura Hospital.

A passenger of the stolen car was also in custody, police said.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement was investigating the shooting with the help of the Miami-Dade County Police Department.
