Hurricane Matthew updates: Open and closed list


MIAMIThis is the list the Local 10 News team will be updating to keep you informed on schedule disruptions in South Florida:


University of Florida campus will be closed Saturday and Sunday. 

Broward County Public Schools will be open Wednesday, but after-school activities are canceled. Schools will be closed on Thursday and Friday. Weekend activities will also be canceled. 

Miami-Dade County Public Schools will be closed Thursday and Friday. 

Miami-Dade College will be closed Thursday and Friday. For more information, call 305-237-7500 and follow the school's social media accounts. 

Broward College closed until Monday morning. For more information, call 954-201-6600.

Palm Beach County Public Schools will be open on Wednesday. Schools will be closed on Thursday and Friday. 

The University of Miami will be closed on Thursday and Friday.

Florida International University all campuses are open.

Miami Dade College (MDC) has canceled all Thursday events and postponed Oct. 6 outdoor dedication of the new parking facility at Wolfson Campus. 

Florida Atlantic University canceled classes beginning 3 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday. Regular classes after Fall Break will begin Oct. 12. 

Florida Memorial University will close starting at noon Wednesday. Classes will resume Monday, Oct. 10.

Barry University closed until Sunday.

St. Thomas University: The campus closes at  3p.m. Wednesday and will remain closed on Thursday and Friday.

Nova Southeastern University closed campuses in Florida and Puerto Rico on Wednesday and will reopen Monday. 

Lynn University canceled campus activities and classes on Wednesday evening, Thursday and Friday. 

Digital Media Arts College in Boca Raton set to close at 1 p.m. Wednesday until Monday. 

Miami-Dade County Public Libraries close at 2 p.m. Wednesday and will remain closed on Thursday and Friday. 

Broward Health Community Education Classes were canceled for Thursday and Friday. 


Miami-Dade Courts close at 2:30 p.m., Wednesday and will remain closed until Monday. 

Broward County Courts close at Noon Wednesday and will remain closed Thursday and Friday. 

Palm Beach County Courts close at 1 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday. 

Miami-Dade inmate visitations will be suspended on Thursday until further notice. 


The Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk was postponed until Oct. 29. 

Eighth annual Southeast Florida Regional Climate Leadership Summit:  The Oct. 5-6 event at the Palm Beach County Convention Center will be postponed, according to Natalie Schneider, the event coordinator.

Antiques and Collectibles Show in Pembroke Pines canceled. 

Garth Brooks' concert on Thursday at the Amway Center was rescheduled for Oct. 9.

Bacon Bash: The event was rescheduled to Jan. 22, 2017 at Esplanade Park, 400 SW 2nd St., in Fort Lauderdale. 

The Women's Fund Miami-Dade postponed the Breaking Bread Neighborhood Events in both Miami Gardens and Homestead. 

MiFo LGBT Film Festival postponed opening night to Oct. 14

The Galleria at Fort Lauderdale: Closed Thursday

Boynton Beach Mall: rescheduled the seasonal holiday job fair to Oct. 20. For more information, call 561-736-7902 or visit BoytonBeachMall.com for updates. 

Aventura Mall: Will remain open until 9:30 p.m. Wednesday and the mall will be closed Thursday. Movie theater hours may vary. 

Dolphin Mall: Regular hours continue Wednesday. Mall closed Thursday. The mall plans to reopen for regular hours on Friday.

Southland Mall: Closed Thursday, to resume normal operations on Friday if weather permits.

The Trump Women's Tour in Florida was canceled. 

The Twenty-sixth Antiques and Collectibles Show in Pembroke Pines was canceled. 

The Sixth Annual Ghoulish Guardians Pumpkin Carving Contest in Pembroke Pines was canceled. 


Pinecrest Gardens, 11000 Red Road, was open on Thursday. 

Walt Disney World parks in Orlando close at 5 p.m., Thursday. 

The Biscayne National Park in Homestead will be closed at 5:30 p.m. until further notice. The Dante Fascell Visitor Center will be closed until further notice. And the park's islands of Boca Chica Key, Elliott Key and Adams Key will be closed until further notice. Park waters remain open for vessel transit only. 

Lake Worth Pier is closed until further notice. 

Miami Beach is closing access to the beach starting Wednesday evening until the storm passes. 

The Pérez Art Museum Miami will be closed on Thursday. 

Vizcaya will be closed Thursday and Friday. 

Miami Seaquarium closed on Wednesday and will reopen at noon Friday.

Miami Children's Museum closed Thursday and will reopen at 10 a.m. Friday.

Zoo Miami closed at 2 p.m. Wednesday and will remain closed Thursday and Friday.

City of Doral parks will be closed on Thursday and Friday. 

City of Miami Gardens' parks will be closed on Thursday and Friday. 

Miami-Dade & Broward Libraries will be closed Thursday and Friday.

Lake Worth Beach and Pier will be closed for swimming Thurday and Friday. 

Miami-Dade County Parks will be closed on Thursday and Friday. 

Seminole Casino Coconut Creek closed Thursday and plans to reopen on Friday morning. 

Jungle Island remains closed Friday and will reopen Saturday.


Miami-Dade Country public transportation service will be restored on Friday morning. 

Broward County Mayor asked the public to avoid using Broward County roads after 3 p.m., Thursday. 

Miami International Airport: Authorities plan to keep MIA open when weather permits. The airport's control towers will be closed when sustained winds reach 55 mph, according to authorities. 

Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport was set to close at 10:30 a.m., Thursday. The airport reopened Friday and will resume service at 11 a.m.

PortMiami has reopened

Port Everglades closed to all marine traffic on Thursday.

Port of Palm Beach closed on Thursday. 

The North Perry Airport closed at 8 a.m. Thursday. 

Miami-Dade Public Transportation: I-95 Express routes will have limited service beginning at 2 p.m. 

Broward County bus service canceled for Thursday.

Tri-Rail service will be suspended after the final scheduled train on Wednesday night. There will be no service on Thursday and Friday

Boatsetter, a boat sharing service, suspended boat rentals Wednesday until further notice. 

United Airlines will waive change fees and any difference in fare for customers scheduled to fly Wednesday through Friday to, from or through five airports in Florida.

Delta Air Lines is waiving change fees on trips through Wednesday in the Caribbean and through Thursday at eight Florida destinations, although differences in the fare would still apply.

American Airlines says it will waive change fees on trips scheduled through Thursday in several Caribbean nations including Cuba. For more information, call reservations at 1-800-433-7300.

Caribbean Airlines canceled Thursday flights 484, 486, 480,481,031,036,030 and 039. 

Carnival Cruises: Itineraries changed for Splendor, Sensation, Victory, Ecstasy, Pride, Elation, Breeze and Conquest.

Norwegian:  Itineraries changed for Sky's voyage. 

Royal Caribbean: Itineraries changed for Allure of the Seas, Freedom of the Seas, Enchantment of the Seas and Majesty of the Seas. 

Miami-Dade County Marinas Close at 8 a.m., Thursday.  Reopen at 10 a.m. Friday.

Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport: Airport will remain open until 10:30 a.m. Thursday. 

North Perry Airport: Air services will be suspended at 7 a.m. Thursday. 


President Barack Obama will not be traveling to Florida as previously scheduled on Wednesday, according to the White House. 

NASA closed the Kennedy Space Center on Thursday and Friday. 

City of Doral's government center closed on Thursday and Friday. 

City of Miami Gardens canceled meetings and events scheduled for Wednesday afternoon and Thursday. 

The South Florida Water Management District canceled the Oct. 6 Water Resources Advisory Commission (WRAC) meeting. Information and presentations were deferred to Nov. 3.

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) District Six rescheduled the public meeting for a roadway improvement project along SR 997/Krome Avenue from SW 312 Street/Campbell
Drive to SW 296 Street, in Miami-Dade County. It will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Nov. 16, at the William F. Dickinson Community Center, 1601 N.
Krome Avenue, Homestead.

Street naming ceremony honoring Pfc. Juan Sebastian Restrepo on Friday in Pembroke Pines was postponed. The date was not yet available. 

Pembroke Pines Police Department's Coffee With A Cop canceled. 

U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services: Remain closed on Friday. Citizenship ceremonies and appointments will be rescheduled.

State offices closed in 26 counties including, Baker, Brevard, Broward, Clay, Duval, Flagler, Glades, Hendry, Highlands, Indian River, Lake, Marion, Martin, Miami-Dade, Monroe, Nassau, Okeechobee, Orange, Osceola, Palm Beach, Polk, Putnam, Seminole, St. Johns, St. Lucie and Volusia.


Baptist Hospital, Baptist Children’s Hospital, Doctors Hospital, Homestead Hospital, Mariners Hospital, South Miami Hospital and West Kendall Baptist Hospital's emergency rooms are open.

Hospital officials said they are working toward restoring normal operations moving forward.

All Baptist Health Urgent Care Centers will reopen at 11 a.m. Friday.


The U.S. Postal Service will resume mail delivery Friday in Palm Beach, Broward, Miami-Dade and Monroe counties.

Miami-Dade County animal services will reopen on Saturday. 

Pembroke Pines will not have bulk service, recycling and residential solid waste services on Thursday. 

Lake Worth will not have trash, garbage or vegetation pick-up during the storm watch, warning or landfall. 

Miami-Dade County curbside garbage and recycling services were suspended for Thursday. 


Publix Supermarkets: All Miami-Dade County and Broward County locations reopened at 7 a.m. Friday. Boca Raton stores reopened at 7:30 a.m. Friday. Boynton Beach, West Palm Beach, Wellington, Loxahatchee and Royal Palm Beach stores will reopen at 9 a.m. Friday. Publix is still making safety assessments to determine when to open remaining stores in Palm Beach, Martin, St. Lucie, Indian River and Okeechobee counties.

Bank of America: All Bank of America financial centers will be closed Friday in coastal markets along East Florida from Jacksonville to Miami.

Community Health of South Florida: The Doris Ison Health Center, 10300 SW 216 St., in Miami will be open The CHI offices will be closed. 

The Galleria at Fort Lauderdale closed at 3 p.m., Wednesday. Some restaurants will remain open if weather permits. 

Aventura Mall closed Thursday. Some restaurants will remain open if weather permits. Mall will resume normal hours of operation on Friday.

Sawgrass Mills closed Wednesday afternoon and will remain closed on Thursday. 

Dolphin Mall closed Wednesday and will remain closed until further notice. 

Miami Beach Community Health Center: Closed Thursday and Friday.

Publix: Most Publix stores are equipped with backup generators and will operate under normal business hours as weather permits.

Sedano's: Most Sedano's Supermarkets are equipped with backup generators and will be open for business as weather permits. All Sedano's stores in Miami-Dade are open until 10 p.m. on Wednesday. Stores in Broward County will remain open until midnight and will reopen at 6 a.m. on Thursday.

Humane Society of Broward County: Shelter will open at noon Friday.
