City of Miami Fire-Rescue team deploys for Matthew relief

80 member task force departed South Florida Friday morning

MIAMI – With South Florida missing the brunt of Hurricane Matthew's mighty force, the City of Miami Fire Rescue teams are on the move to help others on the east coast.

80 members of the Fire Rescue crew left Miami this morning in a 25-truck convoy.

The team will first head to Fort Pierce to assemble with other crews and then be deployed from there to areas that need assistance after Matthew moves up the coast.

Miami Fire Rescue is part of the FEMA National Urban Search & Rescue Task Force that includes crews from other municipalities.

The task force includes K9 handlers, structural engineers, doctors and firefighters.
