3 agencies chase teens after carjacking in Pembroke Pines

Police: 2 boys arrested, 1 in blue Chevrolet sought

PEMBROKE PINES, Fla. – After bailing out of a blue Chevrolet sedan, two armed teenagers stole a man's 2016 Ford Explorer, police said.

It took police cars, a helicopter and a team of police dogs to catch them, as they ran from Pembroke Pines to Miramar and near Miami Gardens on Friday.

The 50-year-old driver of the stolen sports utility vehicle told police the teens took his car at gunpoint. He was stranded about 9:10 p.m. near the 300 block of Southwest 67th Terrace.

Pembroke Pines police officers tried to stop the 16- and 17-year-old boys in the area of Pines Boulevard and University Drive.

As they tried to get away, they crashed into another car.

When they bailed out of the SUV at Miramar Parkway, officers from Miramar and Pembroke Pines chased them with police dogs.

They caught the two teens, who face armed carjacking  and fleeing and eluding charges.

Police were looking for the teen in the blue Chevrolet sedan Saturday. Anyone with information is asked to call Broward County Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS.
