2 crashes leave 2 wounded, 2 at large

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Police were looking for the driver and the passenger of a Chrysler, after they abandoned it Saturday on West Broward Boulevard.

According to police, the driver of the Chrysler struck a man who was trying to help a wounded motorcyclist after crashing into a pickup truck minutes earlier.

Investigators said Tonio McGowen, 33, was riding a Suzuki motorcycle westbound on West Broward Boulevard when he crashed into the back of a blue Ford pickup truck.

Raymond Brown, 58, was driving the blue truck westbound on West Broward Boulevard.

When Brown was getting ready to turn north onto Southwest 29th Terrace, McGowen struck him from behind.

Norman Maryland, 57, said he witnessed the crash and rushed to help McGowen.

The driver of the Chrysler came out of nowhere and struck Maryland and McGowen's motorcycle.

The driver of the Chrysler kept going and turned left at Northwest 30th Avenue. The car was so damaged from the crash that the driver and a passenger ran away.

McGowen and Maryland were taken to Broward Health Medical Center, where they were recovering from non-life-threatening injuries.
