Small fire causes evacuation in area of Jackson Memorial Hospital

No injuries during area evacuation due to external fire

MIAMI ā€“ Miami Fire Rescue responded to a small fire at Jackson Memorial Hospital on Saturday afternoon.Ā 

The external fire was on the rooftop of the West Wing building, according to firefighters.Ā 

When the alarms went off, nurses and staff moved patients to a different area of the hospital.Ā 

Construction materials were damaged, but no one was injured, according to Jackson Health System's Director of Communications Jennifer Piedra. Ā 

The fire was contained and fire crews conducted air tests. Firefighters deemed the building was safe on Saturday night.Ā
