Small plane crashes near mile marker 47 on I-75

No injuries reported

BROWARD COUNTY, Fla. – A small plane went down Sunday afternoon near mile marker 47 on Interstate 75, the Broward Sheriff's Office said.

There were two people on the plane, but no injuries were reported.

BSO Fire Rescue spokesman Mike Jachles said the Cessna 152 flipped over when its nose gear hit a swamp in the Everglades. He said the plane was carrying about 20 gallons of fuel.

"I saw them going straight, then they circled around in a circular pattern," witness Darrell Fisher said. "With the terrain out there and being as wet as it is, they are very fortunate."

Both people on the plane were taken to Miami-Opa-locka Executive Airport.
