Millions of Americans are expected to drive to their destination this Thanksgiving holiday, and the Florida Department of Transportation is preparing for the traffic increase.
The FDOT Regional Management Center has hundreds of traffic cameras where employees can monitor the roads for accidents.
The AAA predicts 48.7 million Americans will travel at least 50 miles from home this holiday weekend, one million more than last year.
"Be patient, take your time. If you can leave a little earlier so you don't have to rush," said Sgt. Mark Wysocky from the Florida Highway Patrol.
According to Wysocky, the FHP will have every trooper available on duty to assist during the holiday rush.
