Florida drivers ranked among the best in the U.S.

Rhode Island ranks ahead of Florida in new survey

MIAMI – Make sure your seatbelt is tightly fastened for this one, folks.

A national report ranks Florida drivers... yes, FLORIDA DRIVERS... among the very best in the entire country.

Go ahead and check the calendar, it's not April Fools' Day.

The data compiled by the insurance company QuoteWizard shows drivers in the Sunshine State trail only those from tiny Rhode Island when it comes to the best in the U.S.

In fact, the survey says that Hialeah and Miami drivers actually contributed to the high honors. Seriously.

QuoteWizard based their rankings on calculations using total accidents, speeding tickets, DUI's, citations and fatalities.

Florida would have been number one if its traffic fatalities hadn't been so high.

Of course, if motorists driving without insurance were factored into the equation, Florida's 24-percent uninsured rate would have sunk the ranking like a rock.

According to the data, the worst drivers are in Utah, California and Virginia.
