MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – A Miami-Dade police station was evacuated after a woman turned in two grenades she found while cleaning her home.

Police said the West District Station, 10000 Southwest 142nd Ave., was evacuated as a safety precaution.

The woman was cleaning her home when she found the grenades and thought it would be safe to bring the items to the station to dispose of them.

The bomb squad later destroyed the objects in a field behind the station.

The station was reopened Tuesday afternoon.
