Deputies say Tricia Banner struck boy who ate cake frosting without permission

Tricia Banner is accused of striking a boy with an aluminum baseball bat.

TAMARAC, Fla. – A South Florida woman was arrested Tuesday after she struck a child with an aluminum baseball bat for eating cake frosting without her permission, according to the Broward Sheriff's Office.

Tricia Banner, 43, of Tamarac, faces a charge of aggravated child abuse.

According to a probable cause affidavit, Banner struck the boy multiple times with the bat Monday morning, causing "severe injuries to his entire buttocks area."

Deputies said Banner struck the boy because he ate cake frosting without her permission.

Investigators said Banner admitted to hitting the boy four times with the bat while he was lying down.

Banner was being held at a Broward County jail Wednesday on a $5,000 bond.
