Miami Dolphins' player surprises families in need with 'Pay Away The Lay Away'

Ndamukong Suh takes time to play Santa in Lauderdale Lakes

LAUDERDALE LAKES, Fla. – Marva Gordon put Christmas gifts on lay away without knowing if she was going to be able to come up with enough money to pay for them.

Gordon had some money, but not all of it when she showed up to make line at the Burlington store at Lakes mall in Lauderdale Lakes.

She was one of about 30 shoppers, Miami Dolphins defensive lineman Ndamukong Suh surprised at the store on Christmas Eve. He partnered with Pay Away The Layaway to pay for some $3,000 in Christmas gifts.

"It's all about them and them enjoying the holidays," Suh said. "I'm fortunate enough that hopefully I can enjoy the holidays with my family."

Pay Away the Layaway volunteer Gena Bofshever said the organization works nationwide to help families in need.

"The best part of this whole thing is to get to see all of the families get their goods," Bofshever said. "These people struggle when they are in a tough time during the season."
