5 juveniles arrested after elementary school burglary

Juveniles discharged fire extinguishers at school, police say

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – Five teenagers were arrested Monday in connection with a burglary at Comstock Elementary School that took place last month, police said.

The juveniles, ranging in age from 13 to 15, broke into the school  Dec. 26, removing fire extinguishers and discharging them, the Miami-Dade School Police Department said in a news media release.

The teens are also accused of smashing computers and smart boards and throwing paint on walls. School officials said they caused about $60,000 in damage.

The five teens were arrested on charges of burglary, criminal mischief and preventing or obstructing extinguishment of fire. 

They were all taken to the county's Juvenile Assessment Center.
