South Fla. man arrested for attempting to have sex with underage child

Robert Gooljar, 57, booked on multple charges

DAVIE, Fla. – A Hollywood man was arrested after he made multiple efforts to have sex with someone he thought was an underage girl on Facebook.

Davie police arrested Robert Gooljar, 57, on Friday. He faces multiple counts of lewd or lascivious exhibition and use of electronic device to lure a child.

A Davie police detective noticed Gooljar targeting young girls on his Facebook account last July.

Posing as a 15-year-old girl on an undercover Facebook account, police received a friend request from Gooljar.

Gooljar allegedly sent several messages to the account starting in October.

In his messages, Gooljar would offer the undercover detective money and clothes, stating that she "sounds sexy."

Beginning in November, Gooljar's messages become more explicit, talking to the alleged child about how to masturbate and how he would like to perform oral sex on her.

Gooljar often told the "girl" that he loved her and wanted to take care of her. Gooljar also sent text messages to the phone number provided by the undercover officer.

The messages continued into 2017 with Gooljar making contact multiple times after the new year.

In a message sent on Jan. 5, Gooljar told the "girl" that he wanted to pick her up the next day and take her back to his home in Hollywood to perform oral sex.

While conducting surveillance on Gooljar's home on Jan. 6, detectives saw him leaving his residence to go to meet at an agreed upon location.

After Gooljar contacted the Facebook site to tell the "girl" to walk towards the location, detectives were able to apprehend him and take him into custody.

The police report states Gooljar told a detective that "we all make sometimes" and that he was talking to a girl on Facebook.
