2 arrested for beating man in dispute over nationalities

Third suspect believed to be hiding in Miami area

MARATHON, Fla. – Two men who are believed to be brothers turned themselves in to authorities Friday on accusations of beating a man during a dispute over their nationalities, authorities said.

The fight was reported Sunday on 65th Street Oceanside in Marathon. Authorities said the suspects are from Guatemala and the victim is from Cuba.

Monroe County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Becky Herrin said the victim, Yandy Carrillo, 30, was airlifted to a hospital with serious injuries to his face and head. He has since been released from the hospital and is recovering at home.

Herrin said the third suspect, Ottoniel Garcia, 20, who is believed to be the other suspects' cousin, might be hiding in the Miami area.
