Books take over Havana's La Cabaña for International Book Fair

Commercial book stores offer fiction, romance, self-help books

HAVANA – Books lovers will take over the 18th-century fortress of La Cabaña for the annual International Book Fair in Havana until Sunday. 

The commercial books for sale are not all about politics. The long list of titles includes romance and self-help books like the the best-selling 2006 "The Secret" by Rhonda Byrne. 

As the guest of honor this year, Canada got an entire pavilion. And the long list of European authors invited include Claudia Ferraroli from Italy, Colm Toibin from Ireland and Ignacio Ramonet from France. 

There were several guests from the U.S. including Mary Alice-Waters, Brian Khan, Lorand Matory, Katherine M. Hedeen, Kristin Ann Dykstra, Daniel Borzutzky and Michal Berg. 

The organizers of the fair are also live streaming some of their events on the program on YouTube.  They were also sharing updates on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook
