When Deputy Jon Riggs arrived, the man, later identified as Donald Geib, 39, was still asleep, sheriff's spokeswoman Becky Herrin said.

The vehicle's window was broken, and a wrench was jammed in the ignition as if someone had tried to start it.

After the deputy awakened him, Geib said he had permission to sleep in the SUV, despite not knowing who owned it, Herrin said.

The owner denied giving anyone permission to break into his vehicle and sleep in it.

Herrin said it appeared that Geib ransacked the vehicle before falling asleep. She said a pipe was found on the floorboard.

Geib was arrested on charges of criminal mischief, burglary, theft and possession of drug paraphernalia.
