Thief swaps his bicycle for another at Oakland Park home

Incident reported in 4200 block of North Dixie Highway

OAKLAND PARK, Fla. – A thief swapped his bicycle over the weekend for another one that was in the garage of a home in Oakland Park, deputies said.

The theft was reported Saturday in the 4200 block of North Dixie Highway.

Broward Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Gina Carter said in a news release that the thief rode up to the home on a gray and yellow Magna Rip Claw bicycle.

Carter said the man left his bicycle on the victim's lawn and stole the victim's gray Trek Hybrid from the garage.

The stolen bike is valued at $1,000.

Anyone with information about the thief's identity is asked to call Detective Michael Wagener at 954-202-3117. Anonymous tips can be made to Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS. A reward of up to $3,000 is offered for information that leads to an arrest.
