Woman leaves Weston Publix without paying after bagging booze, deputies say

Woman believed to have stolen at least 8 bottles of champagne, wine

WESTON, Fla. – A woman was captured on surveillance video bagging some booze at a Publix in Weston and then leaving without paying for the wine and champagne.

The theft was reported at 1:20 p.m. Jan. 26 at the Publix at 1170 Weston Road.

Broward sheriff's deputies said the woman put a black and white tote bag inside a shopping cart and grabbed a box of oranges.

Surveillance video then shows her strolling to the wine aisle, where she grabs two bottles of champagne at a time, placing them in her cart.


After collecting four bottles of Brut, she reached for eight bottles of pinot grigio, deputies said.

Authorities said the woman slipped at least eight bottles of alcohol into her bag and then pushed her empty cart to the front of the store.
