Home Depot evacuates store in North Miami Beach after 11 get sick

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue treats 8, rushs 3 to hospital

NORTH MIAMI BEACH, Fla. – Miami-Dade Fire Rescue paramedics and Miami-Dade police officers responded to the Home Depot in North Miami Beach on Friday night, after customers and employees started to feel sick. 

Home Depot evacuated the store at 1205 NE 163 St. A strong odor prompted nearly a dozen people to start coughing and vomiting, according to MDFR. Three required hospitalization. 

The MDFR's HazMat unit investigated the source of the chemical odor that some reported caused them a burning sensation. 

The store reopened it's doors at 6 a.m. Saturday.
