Suspect appears in bond court after southwest Miami-Dade drive-by shooting

4 injured in shooting

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – A man appeared Thursday before a judge after he was accused of being involved in a drive-by shooting in southwest Miami-Dade.

Tony McGhee Jr., 26, was ordered held in lieu of a $9,500 bond.

Miami-Dade police arrested McGhee Wednesday morning after they said he bailed out of a car that was used in a drive-by shooting.

Four people, ages 34 to 64, were injured in the shooting just after 8 a.m. Wednesday near a home on Southwest 139th Avenue and 266th Street.

Police said another suspect, Byron Curry, 26, also jumped out of the vehicle and was arrested later in the day.

Dozens of police officers searched neighborhoods in the area, along with K-9 units and a police helicopter.

Police said Curry was found hiding in a model home a few miles from where the suspects bailed out of the car.

Police said the victims were taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

"They came banging on the door, and I looked out the window and hear people crying and screaming and stuff. So I just jumped out the bed to see what was going on," LaToya Jackson, who lives in the area, said.

Curry is expected to go before a judge Thursday afternoon.

Authorities said the victims are not cooperating with the investigation.
