Body found after reports of shooting at southwest Miami-Dade park

Relatives identify victim as Robert Engleton, 18

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – A body was found Tuesday morning at a park in southwest Miami-Dade after someone called 911 to report a shooting, authorities said.

The shooting was reported at Richmond Triangle Park on Boggs Drive, near Monroe Street.

Police said one person was found dead at the scene. Relatives identified him as Robert Engleton, 18.

"It's a lot to deal with," Engleton's uncle, Buddy Hope, said. " I just got a call early in the morning, coming from dropping off my sister, that he got shot. I just came quickly."

Friends and family told Local 10 News reporter Sanela Sabovic that Engleton attended Miami Killian Senior High School, although school officials said he was not a current student.

"I went to school with him," Rashaun Bomdieumaitre said. "He was a good boy. He went to school and went to work. I never knew nothing negative about him at all."

Loved ones are hoping that police will catch the killer and that justice will be served.

"You will be found. You will get the justice you deserve," Hope said.

Anyone with information is asked to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
