Accused serial robber arrested by Miami police

Elvin Santiago Jr. accused of targeting at least 4 businesses

MIAMI ā€“ An accused serial robber was arrested Wednesday in connection with four armed robberies at businesses in the city of Miami, authorities said.

Elvin Santiago Jr., 26, faces four counts of armed robbery.

Police said Santiago demanded cash and Newport cigarettes during each of the robberies.

The robberies were reported April 18 at a CVS Pharmacy at 3695 W. Flagler St.; April 26 at a Stop and Shop at 4713 West Flagler St.; Tuesday at a CVS Pharmacy at 2710 SW Eighth St.; and Tuesday at Walgreens Pharmacy at 2700 W. Flagler St.

Detectives believe Santiago might also be responsible for two other Miami-Dade County robberies.

One robbery was reported May 2 at a 7-Eleven convenience store at 18421 NW 67th Ave.

Another was reported April 26 at a RaceWay gas station at 19851 NW 57th Ave.

Police said Santiago was armed with a handgun during each of the robberies.
