Coral Shores High School senior accused of sexual battery

Suspect admits that victim told him 'no' a number of times, deputies say

TAVERNIER, Fla. – A 17-year-old senior at Coral Shores High School in Tavernier was arrested Friday for sexually battering a 15-year-old girl, authorities said.

The victim reported the incident to authorities on Wednesday after consulting with her doctor, Monroe County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Becky Herrin said.

The victim told detectives that she was assaulted about two weeks ago when she went for a ride in the suspect's vehicle.

The girl told deputies that they stopped on a dark dead-end street and the senior put his hand down her pants.

She said she repeatedly rebuffed him, but he persisted.

Herrin said the suspect admitted to detectives that the girl told him "no" a number of times during the course of the assault.

The teen faces a sexual battery charge.

His identity has not been released.
