Lauderdale Lakes woman arrested after driving with teen on hood of car

Teresa McBride tells deputy she didn't think anything was wrong with it

Teresa McBride faces a child neglect charge after she was driving with her child on the hood of her car, authorities say.

LAUDERDALE LAKES, Fla. – A Lauderdale Lakes woman was arrested Thursday after she drove with a 16-year-old boy on the hood of her car, telling a deputy that she was going slow and didn't think there was anything wrong with it, according to a Broward Sheriff's Office report.

Teresa McBride, 46, faces a charge of child neglect.

According to the arrest report, McBride was driving on Northwest 41st Street when a deputy saw a boy on the hood of her car.

Deputy Shaun Halleran stopped McBride at an intersection and questioned her.

McBride told Halleran that “she believed that there was nothing wrong with it and that she had told him to hold on,” the report said.

Although McBride said she was only driving a short distance, Halleran said McBride put the teen at risk of “great bodily harm and or even death.”

McBride was taken to jail without incident.
