Child, man on ATV struck by car in Lauderhill

Victims taken to hospital with serious injuries

LAUDERHILL, Fla. – A man and child were taken to Broward Health Medical Center after they were struck by a car Sunday while riding an all-terrain vehicle in Lauderhill.

The victims were riding the ATV in a Lauderhill neighborhood when they were struck by a white Kia and thrown from the ATV.

"He was trying to do a wheelie," a witness told Local 10 News.

The woman driving the Kia told police that the ATV came out of nowhere before slamming into her vehicle.

"They were coming from this way. She was turning in her yard and then just kind of collided," another witness said.

Witnesses said nobody was wearing a helmet. The victims were taken to the hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Police said the driver of the ATV will likely face charges because it is illegal to operate an ATV on a public street.
