Clerk at Sweeney's Liquors pistol-whipped during robbery

$1,000 reward offered for information leading to arrest

PEMBROKE PARK, Fla. – A Pembroke Park liquor store clerk who was pistol-whipped during a robbery last week said he hopes the gunman is caught.

The armed robbery was reported about 4:30 a.m. May 25 at Sweeney's Liquors on Hallandale Beach Boulevard.

Surveillance video shows a gunman entering the store while the clerk and his brother-in-law were inside. The video shows the robber hitting the clerk in the head three times with the gun.

"I was hoping I wouldn't get shot," the employee, who asked not to be identified, told Local 10 News.

The clerk said his attacker was posing as a customer.

"He was just asking about bottles, you know, just like a normal customer," the clerk said.

The manager at Sweeney's is offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to an arrest.

"It's crazy just knowing he's still out there," the clerk said.
