Everglades City residents brace for severe weather

Collier County deputies warn flood could cause street closures

EVERGLADES CITY, Fla. – The water was so deep we couldn't see the streets in parts of Everglades City. Heavy rains pounded areas of Collier County, where residents were trying to brace themselves for the next round.

Deputies were blocking the area of County Road 29 and U.S. 41. They were asking everyone, but residents, to stay out.

Authorities temporarily lifted the restriction late Tuesday afternoon, but said that could change depending on the flood conditions.
