MIAMI – Miami police on Friday released the identities of a man and his estranged wife who died Wednesday in a murder-suicide.

According to authorities Isis Valdes Cruz, 40, was getting out of her car about 5:15 p.m. Wednesday on Northwest 58th Court when she was approached by her estranged husband, Heriberto Garcia Ortega, 55.

Police said they got into an argument and Garcia Ortega slashed his wife's throat with a knife.

Police said the man then stabbed himself.

Miami police spokeswoman Kenia Fallat said in a news released that responding officers found Valdes Cruz dead at the scene. Garcia Ortega was conscious, but was bleeding profusely.

He was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital's Ryder Trauma Center, where he died.
