The Associated Press reports a college student in Wyoming told authorities she was working on a term paper about kleptomania when she was caught shoplifting.

Lydia Marie Cormaney, 33, was caught leaving a Walmart store with $1,900 worth of merchandise. Investigators later found thousands of dollars worth of stolen items in her dorm room. Cormaney said she began shoplifting when she was forced to move into a new dorm room without the amenities her former roommate had provided.

Cormaney is facing three felony charges.
